THE Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Abdul Aziz Mohammed, has charged members of the assembly to make the monitoring and supervision of development projects in the municipality their prime concern.
He said even though majority of development projects in the municipality were at various stages of completion, the pace at which the projects were being executed was not encouraging.
Mr Mohammed, therefore, impressed upon the members to critically review their commitment to the implementation of projects so that the assembly would continue to win the confidence of its benefactors.
The MCE expressed the concern when he delivered his maiden address at the third ordinary meeting of the Wa Municipal Assembly in Wa.
He lamented the lack of commitment on the part of most beneficiary communities of projects in recent times.
"Indeed, the communal support expected from beneficiary communities as far as project execution is concerned in some areas has become questionable. These days the assembly is most often prevailed upon to fill in that gap,” he stressed.
Commenting on the revenue mobilisation of the assembly for last year, the MCE said it fell short of the estimated target of GH¢187,506, as it only managed to raise GH¢139,167.
He urged members to work harder to improve the revenue base of the assembly.
Mr Mohammed further emphasised the need for all and sundry to work towards ensuring a very clean municipality by helping to enforce the assembly's bye-laws on sanitation.
He mentioned some of the development projects being carried out in the municipality as the construction of Community Health Planning (CHIPS) centres and classroom blocks for schools.
According to the MCE, efforts were being made to construct a juice factory in the municipality soon.
